Founded on Principle, Built for the Future

Meridian International Bank was established in 2004 by a consortium of former Swiss private bankers and Singaporean trade-finance experts. Their vision: build a hybrid bank combining the discretion and discipline of Old-World private banking with the agility required by rapidly globalizing markets.

During the 2008 financial crisis, Meridian was one of the few mid-sized international banks that did not take a government bailout. Instead, it weathered the crisis through conservative, asset-backed lending.

This remains a defining moment of our institution.

2004

Meridian International Bank founded in Singapore by a consortium of Swiss and Asian banking professionals.

2006

Expatriate Private Banking division launched, serving globally mobile professionals across Asia and the Middle East.

2008

Navigated the global financial crisis without government bailout — one of few mid-sized banks to do so through conservative, asset-backed lending.

2010
